The Business Intelligence Analyst will be an integral part of the Business Analytics team, responsible for helping maintain and enhance the Business Analytics data warehouse for performing and nonperforming mortgage loans and REO; assisting with the creation and enhancement of collateral performance, financial, and management reports; and documenting data processes, definitions, and calculations.

What you'll do

  • Maintaining and enhancing Business Analytics reporting data warehouse
  • Monitoring business units with regards to timely and accurate reporting of data
  • Preparing and maintaining standardized and ad-hoc reporting related to all assets
  • Documenting processes, definitions, calculations, and user-facing materials for the reporting database and analytics tools
  • Interfacing with all end-user functions to facilitate usable and accurate management reports
  • Monitoring daily data transfers to and from the Business Analytics data warehouse and collaborating with IT to proactively identify data transfer issues
  • Assisting in data integrity validation and data cleansing to ensure accurate information capture and reporting

What you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting or similar specialty (additional coursework in Management Information Systems preferred). Bachelor’s degrees with technical focuses such as Programming or Statistics will be considered.
  • 2-5 years of experience building and maintaining complex financial models, data analysis models, and/or management information systems.
  • Analyze end-user requirements and translate them into actionable steps to develop necessary tools and reports
  • Blend (via SQL, Tableau, Power Query, Alteryx, etc.) new data sources with existing organizational data to enrich the firm’s analytic capabilities
  • Identify process improvements
  • Design new reports and improve current reporting structure
  • Own end-user training and interface with stakeholders
  • Communicate developmental roadmaps, progress, and potential issues clearly and proactively
  • Distill, simplify, and convey complex results, recommendations, and key takeaways
  • Mine organizational data for insights, validation, and usability
  • Document database architecture (tables, columns, and structure)
  • Document tool data flow, update procedures, calculated field definitions, and “User Guides” for technical and non-technical users
  • Write, maintain, and update intermediate-level SQL queries
  • Tableau intermediate-level features such as: data sources, calculated fields, LOD expressions, parameters, and interactive dashboards (Tableau Server experience a plus)
  • Excel advanced-level features such as (but not limited to): VBA, external data connections, data tables, financial modeling, and ad-hoc reporting
  • Excel “Power Query” (aka “Get and Transform Data”): writing queries, blending multiple data sources, and modifying M-code
  • Alteryx Designer: knowledge of Alteryx and its capabilities a plus
  • Microsoft PowerPoint: experience with PowerPoint a plus
  • Finance industry: knowledge of concepts and terminology
  • Real estate or mortgage industry: knowledge of concepts and terminology a plus
