Advanced Air at Hawthorne Municipal Airport is currently seeking a controller.  Advanced Air was founded in 2005 with just one King Air 90. Since then, we've become a full-service charter and aircraft management group, with over 15 aircrafts and 70 employees based out of Jet Center Los Angeles.

The controller will manage finance and accounting activities providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.

What you'll do

  • Prepares and analyzes accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.
  • Records journal entries to account for business activities, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Perform analytical review of account balances and activity and providing explanations for fluctuations.
  • Develops systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts, ensuring the accounts balance to underlying support and investigating and resolving any reconciling items.
  • Perform analytical review of account balances and activity and providing explanations for fluctuations.
  • Understand and ensure processes are in compliance with internal controls and business processes, implement improvements as needed.
  • Works with management on appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization.
  • Take initiative and leadership position in day to day assignments and on special projects.
  • Oversee, mentor and empower staff, providing guidance and assistance.
  • Creates forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel.
  • Communicate effectively internally and externally.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting. Master's degree preferred
  • 5 years of hands-on accounting experience.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Aviation experience preferred.
