More information about this job

Wedgewood is looking for a proactive and organized Paralegal/Executive Assistant to support our Legal Operations Manager! Our company is a leading acquirer of distressed residential real estate, specializing in the purchase, rehab, and resale of single family homes. Founded in 1985, we have since grown into a diversified, vertically integrated company, expanding our business footprint to also include non-performing notes, home warranty, lending, design, brokerage, property management, escrow, and more.

We’re looking for a strong supporting partner for our Legal Operations Manager, who will not only own her schedule, meetings, and bookkeeping, but who will also provide support in research, filing, and preparing demands. Our ideal candidate has a sharp mind, is detail-oriented, takes pride in their work, and can effectively communicate with anyone from executives, to investors, to team members at all levels.

What you'll do

  • Act as an extension of our Legal Operations Manager, and a representative of Wedgewood
  • Own and organize a complex calendar, ensuring there are no double-bookings or mislabeled events, and working with internal and external stakeholders to schedule meetings
  • Independently prioritize and follow up on projects, whether as a gatekeeper for meetings or while screening our Manager’s inbox for high-priority conversations
  • Manage and improve bookkeeping and filing processes
  • Prepare legal documentation, including demand letters, and conduct research as needed
  • Run errands, coordinate travel accommodations, and make reservations
  • Act as liaison with other departments and outside agencies, including high-level executives as well as administrative team members
  • Handle confidential and non-routine information with discretion and professionalism
  • Manage or assist in ad-hoc projects, both independently and within a team
  • Proofread copy for spelling, grammar, and layout, making appropriate changes as necessary

What you'll need

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience providing support for high-level team leadership
  • 2-3 years’ experience as Paralegal, experience with real estate or entertainment law preferred
  • Comfort with hard deadlines and a habit of working well under pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • A sense of pride in your work, and history proactively problem-solving
  • Unflinching professionalism, tact, and discretion
  • Organization, attention to detail, and a habit of anticipating needs, logistics, and obstacles
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
